thrifting…and does my butt look 4% smaller?

we hit up the thrift store last week and woo-hoo everything was 60% off!

j found a helicopter and some balls. andrew found some dominoes. and i scored some cool shades and a blue blazer. all in all we walked out with all our stuff for under $10.

i took a picture of the blazer and then quickly noticed that my 10 extra lbs. are showing up. i played around with photoshop and found an action that’s called “4% thinner”. does my butt look 4% smaller?

i swear it’s my blog and not me. yes, the big 4-0 is not that far away, but i can’t figure out what to do with this darn blog. i am by no means a regular poster. (“Really?” you’re saying). i just can’t fathom that i have any regular readers so any guilt i have for not posting is short-lived, but my dilemma is often, “what to post?”.

i have a million things swimming in my head. design, fashion, food, adoption, parenting. i envy those blogs that are so FOCUSED. i mean, they know what they are, right? and then…and then… there is the whole blog-naming bit. when i started life with keiki it was meant to be a blog about our adoption journey, our life with keiki, or kids. keiki seemed fitting since it was different and i have an affinity for all things hawaiian, but then it bugged me. i mean, i don’t even live in hawaii and hardly anyone knows what in the heck “keiki” means. so, shortly after starting said blog, i started keeping a list of blog names. that was over a year ago.

my intent was to jump on over to another blog, but my goodness, how to commit to a blog name? so i never bit the bullet, or got off the pot, or any other cliche you’d like to use. a new year, however, is pushing me to just jump ship from life with keiki.

i also know i want a challenge of some sort, and would like to use a blog to document the challenge. my self-portrait challenge lasted one month. big wow. posting 365 days is just too much to commit to. i know that i want to do a creative challenge of some sort. something with my polaroid? my new holga? sewing? so there i am. a rambling idiot. like i said….having a mid-life crisis. whatever i decide i hope you’ll join me…

i will definitely let you know when and if i move…

i’m always a little sad to put away all the christmas decorations, but excited to start the new year with fresh and clean rooms. wanted to post a few pics before it all gets put away. sniff, sniff.

i am almost always in charge of dessert for family functions, and this year was by far the easiest as i included decorated sugar cookies and fudge (popular with the kiddos), cuties (popular with anyone after a huge and heavy meal), and a gifted fruit tart. one thing i’ve learned is to not overdo it when it comes to holidays. too much pressure=less fun and less time to spend with loved ones, no?

{santa brought j a ludwig set. needless to say, he was a very happy boy.}

{santa brought me a few cool gifts, too. needless to say, i was a very happy girl.}

christmas was filled with love, togetherness, and relaxation. and it was beautiful and warm enough to wear flip-flops. we played with all our toys, then spent the day after christmas not fighting the crowds at the mall, but using up our annual passes at the aquarium.

all in all a fabulous christmas. tonight will be very low-key. have a safe and wonderful new year’s eve!

i have no word really for my interior design style. i am extremely fickle, like a lot of different styles, and rarely am apt to settle on just one. so i’m basically hodge podge. which is why i love this sneak peek at design sponge. a lot of the furniture is thrifted, which is so me.
