happy inauguration day

i am so grateful for this day. whatever your political affiliation is, i hope that you are too. it is a momentous and historical day.

i was fortunate enough to watch the inauguration ceremony with my eld (english language development) class, a class made up of kids from seven different countries. each of them watched the ceremony and asked questions about every aspect, from who the former presidents were to why aretha franklin was wearing her bow hat. : ) a couple of them even asked me to teach them the star spangled banner. be still my heart.

what really strikes me is that j will grow up knowing that he really can be the president if he wants to. there are no barriers to anything if he sets his mind to it. i’m really proud of our country.

now the work begins, and i’ve been mulling over what will my part be?
